French Ambassador Seeks Partnership
France’s ambassador to Poland - François Barry Delongchamps – visted Szczecin in November for meetings aimed enhancing economic co-operation.
The main reason for the visit was to learn about the West Pomeranian Region and Polish and French cultural institutions in the area. He also discussed the possibilities for bringing together local authorities from both countries as a precursor to developing economic ties as part of the France-Poland strategic partnership.
The ambassador visited Alliance Française – a unit which is not only a foreign language school,but a centre for promoting French culture. He also met with members of the Northern Chamber of Commerce, a local business group, and Mayor Piotr Krzystek, Talks included a briefing on the economic situation in Szczecin and the possibility of scientific, linguistic and cultural interaction.
He also toured the the consulate and met with the rector of the University of Szczecin, as well as participating in a lecture entitled Results and perspectives of the strategic partnership of France and Poland. Other stops included Świnoujście and Stargard Szczeciński.
