Szczecin’s fireworks and music festivals capture prizes for promotion of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in 2009.

The 2nd International Fireworks Festival PYROMAGIC 2009 and the Electronic Music Festival Music Wave – Szczecin Live 2009 earned the recognition from the Marshall’s Office, which in November presented its third annual awards. The competition is aimed at highlighting events that draw tourists to the area and to encourage local communities to take up new challenges.

Some 46 events were entered for this year’s contest, including folk events, festivals and open-air events promoting art, travel and music, as well as cultural heritage, archeological artifacts, ancient crafts, local cuisine and much more. Judges, including representatives of an Expert Board on Tourism, the West Pomeranian Tourism Chamber and the Marshal’s Office of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, selected 13 events to receive awards.
