Mateusz Sawrymowicz with the chance for „Performance of the Year”
Szczecin's swimmer was nominated for the „Performance of the Year” award of the World Open Water Swimming Association – WOWSA
Mateusz Sawrymowicz (MKP Szczecin) is gathering deserved praise and laurels in the USA for his very successful performance at RCP TIBURON MILE at the end of September. Not only did the triumph in the one-mile race in the water of the San Francisco Bay gain him a sponsor (TRISWIM – a world leader on the market of cosmetics for swimmers), but also made professionals notice him.
Every year WOWSA, that is, World Open Water Swimming Association, awards prizes in four categories: Man of the Year, Woman of the Year (not necessarily swimmers themselves, but also activists or coaches), Offering of the Year (proposals, ideas for the development of the discipline), and Performance of the Year (performance or memorable event).
This year, Mateusz Sawrymowicz was nominated in the last category for his performance at RCP TIBURON MILE. The justification stresses the fact that the Szczecinian outdid the world elite of swimmers specializing in rivalry on open waters, world championships medalists and Olympic medalists, even though he himself had only been known for his successes in the swimming pool.
