Medals for karate fighters
Paweł Bombolewski and Łukasz Struk, Bushikan Szczecin contestants became World Champions in seniors team kumite!
Bucharest (Romania) between 5 – 9 June hosted World Karate Championships for Seniors, where 450 contestants from 33 different countries took part; among them, a 15-person Representation of Poland with two Bushikan Szczecin fighters on the team. It was the Bushikan karate fighters that were the most successful in these Championships. The success is also the greatest achievement in the history of Polish karate.
The Poles became champions in the most prestigious and spectacular discipline – team kumite rotation. On their way to the gold they beat the Scots 5:1, the Russians 6:2 and well as the hosts, the Romanians 5:2.
The Poles, in the same composition, also got the bronze medal in the team kumite, beating the representations of Hungary and Italy and loosing minimally to the Romanians (whom they beat in the later finals of team kumite rotation). Paweł Bombolewski did not fail in his crowning discipline, individual kumite 70kg, either, where he got the bronze having beaten contestants form Scotland and Italy, losing only to the subsequent winner from Romania.
