Szczecin in Google Street View
Google has made Street View application available for Polish cities. Now, each internet user can go on a virtual walk in Szczecin and explore the city thoroughly by watching panoramic photos taken from the pedestrian perspective.
How did it start?
Last year Google announced that Street View would be available for 5 Polish cities connected with Euro2012 organization: Warszawa, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Poznań and Kraków. Additionally, the most beautiful and the most important places were to be pointed out by the internet users voting in the poll "Look, Poland! Let's choose our showcase for Street View".
Several thousand of cities were submitted in the first phase. Only 15 cities went to the finals including Szczecin with its Chrobry Embankment and Old Town. At last, Piotrowska street in Łódź won. Branicki Palace and Kościuszko Market in Białystok and Old Market in Poznań took second and the third place. Szczecin took the fourth place and it was before the Old Market in Kraków, Teutonic Castle in Malbork and Market or Ostrów Tumski in Wrocław.
