The Concert on a Concrete Ship

The Concert on a Concrete Ship

Prominent figures of Polish and American jazz played Chopin in completely new arrangements. The concert took place in the middle of Lake Dąbie, and the audience admired the musicians' talents on board liners, sailing boats, and canoes.

Chopin on a Concrete Ship continues last year’s idea, which was part of the Boogie Brain festival. This time the ship that sank in Lake Dąbie was a unique venue for jazz interpretations of Chopin’s works.

The distinguished Polish artists who took part in the concert were Antoni Gralak (trumpet, tuba), Karol Pospieszalski (tuba), Ireneusz Wojtczak (saxophone), Bronisław Duży (trombone), Darek Sprawka (trombone, tuba), Klaudiusz Kłosek (trumpet), Ola Rzepka (drums), Tymon Tymański (contrabass), Darek Makaruk (sampling), Piotr Pawlak (guitar), and word-famous American artists Jim Black (drums), and Chris Speed (saxophone).

The Chopin on a Conrete Ship concert is part of the “Beyond Time and Space – the “Chopin Year in Szczecin” project funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and the City of Szczecin. The City Council Institution of Culture “Szczecin 2016” is the project coordinator, while the Association of Leaders and Fundraisers is the supporting partner.
