New Tourist Attraction in Szczecin

Sightseeing tours in a balloon in the colours of the Floating Garden, rising to an altitude of 30 metres, is the new tourist attraction of the city. From the balloon one may admire the panorama of Szczecin.

A sports-sightseeing balloon is situated in Psia Polana (Dog’s Clearing) in Kasprowicz Park every day. Only during big events, such as this year’s Days of the Sea and the Fireworks Festival, is it moved elsewhere, to the place of the event.

The balloon will be performing so-called captive flights and it will be rising to an altitude of 30 metres. Up to 5 persons will be flying each time. Weather permitting, the balloon will be flying from sunrise to sunset. The balloon and tickets will be in the colours of the Floating Garden. There will be a video camera in the middle, which will allow the transmission of images to the website of the City.

Data concerning the balloon:

The dimensions of the balloon: height 25 m, volume 2 550 m3, starting mass 818 kg (at the ambient temperature of 15°C).

The balloon has a valid inspection certificate and an airworthiness certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Office. It will be piloted by Kazimierz Stępień, one of the most experienced Polish pilots, who has flown 400 hours of free flights and 1 760 hours of captive flights.

One captive flight will last about 10 minutes. The price of a full-fare ticket is PLN 30, and of a discount ticket (children and young people up to 18) is PLN20.
