Be a Co-author of the European Application of Szczecin

You may submit ideas for projects concerning the celebration of the European Capital of Culture in Szczecin only to 15 June. The Local-Government cultural institution SZCZECIN 2016 (responsible for the project “Szczecin – ESK 2016”) is awaiting unconventional, fresh and inventive concepts.
The International Contest Committee, which will assess the applications from particular Polish cities, will take into account, first of all, three priorities - “Europeaness”, civic value and sustainability of changes. That is why the projects submitted supporting the attempts of Szczecin should strengthen the transboundary cooperation in the field of culture and demonstrate the cultural richness and uniqueness of Szczecin. Undertakings highlighting its European tradition, including intensified relations with the closest neighbours (Germany, Scandinavia), are equally important.
Szczecin needs both large and small projects; and on local, transboundary, regional and international scales. It also needs projects which will embrace not only culture, but also art, education, science, social life, tourism and the economy. Additional directives and guidelines may be found in the five application priorities for Szczecin. These are:
- „Szczecin - redefinition” (key words: building a community, identity, public debate, public space, revitalisation through culture, social change, excluded groups, creativity, innovation, greenery, ecology, science).
- Binding Europe (key words: identity, cooperation, partnership, overcoming divisions, cultural exchange, multiculturality, dialogue, friendship).
- Migration of cultures (key words: migrations, rooting, multiculturality, clashes and dialogue of cultures, cooperation, cultural exchange, diversity).
- Flows, waves, currents (key words: city on the river, sea, river, ecology, floating garden).
- Underground culture to sky-high culture (key-words: independence, high level, uncompromising attitude, ambition, honesty, underground, creative activity).
