The Athena at the Chrobry Enbankments

The Athena at the Chrobry Enbankments

Another liner will call at Szczecin. A large ship will dock at the Chrobry Enbankments next Sunday.

The Mv Athena is the second seagoing cruise ship to visit Szczecin in the 2010 season. The ship will dock at the Polish berth on the coming Sunday, 30 May, between 10.00 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.

The Athena was built in 1948 as a transatlantic liner, and it was only in 1994, with a new owner who purchased it for USD 150 million, when it was rebuilt as a cruise ship. The ship’s length is 160m, width 21 m, immersion 7.8 m. The vessel sails under the Portuguese flag, and its home port is Madeira.

The Athena will begin her voyage over the Baltic Sea on 29 May in Kiel, and in the course of a 12-day voyage, besides Szczecin, she will call at the ports of Gdańsk, Klaipėda, Riga, Tallinn, Saint Petersburg, Helsinki and Stockholm. Approximately 450 passengers and 225 crew members will travel on board the vessel. They have at their disposal eight passenger decks, two elevators and, among other things, a swimming pool, cinema, library, hairdressing salon and multiple restaurants.

The next cruise ships to visit Szczecin will be Mv Braemar, Mv Black Watch and Mv Delphin Voyager. The first one will get here on 8 June, and the other two on 11 June – during Sea Days.
