Silver for Szczecin for the Promotion of the European Capital of Culture 2016

A report „The Capitals of Regions” appeared in the latest issue of „Press” magazine. It says that the greatest number of press publications on culture from the perspective of efforts put in to achieve the title of the European Capital of Culture 2016 concerns Szczecin and Toruń. Szczecin occupies the second place.
Year-by-year cultural events in Szczecin are more and more famous in Poland. Thanks to the press conference for the inSPIRACJE festival in Warsaw in January, the honourable mention for the project “Chopin na Betonowcu” (“Chopin on a Concrete Ship”) (which will be held in July) in the February supplement to weekly “Polityka” concerning Chopin’s Year, more and more people from different parts of the country are interested in concerts within the Szczecin Music Fest. And, what’s more, there is also recent news – activities connected with the Boogie Brain festival were prominent in social media during the 4th festival of the Promotion of Cities and Regions and the Day of Theatre – Kontrapunkt festival, famous in the whole of Poland. These are only a few of the events held in Szczecin, which are also famous beyond the borders of West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The same goes for efforts of Szczecin to obtain the title of the European Capital of Culture 2016. However, according to Marek Sztark, the issues of marketing and promotion are not the most important in the strategy of the Szczecin’s office of The European Capital of Culture.
