"The City of the Future" Chosen by Net Users

The third, and at the same time the last, winner of the art competition organised as part of the Polish preparatory work for EXPO 2010 has just been announced. The laptop prize will go to Bartłomiej Grynig, aged 11, from Ełk.
“The City of the Future” art competition, accompanying the Polish preparatory work for the World Exhibition EXPO 2010, was organised by Szczecin City. It was aimed at children aged 8-12 from Poland and Shanghai, and the task was to develop a work showing their personal vision of the cities of the future.
A total of 653 works were submitted for the competition. Given that some works failed to comply with the competition regulations (the lack of parent/guardian declaration), the jury evaluated 478 works (including 50 works made by Chinese children).
At the beginning of April, the jury formed by professionals in the field of painting, fine arts, culture and publicity, namely Wojciech Siudmak, Daniel Źródlewski, Leszek Żebrowski, Jurgen Preiss, and Jadwiga Kimber, chose two winners:
- Jarosław Michalski from Zwonowice near Rybnik, who will attend EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, together with his guardian, and receive a laptop,
- GU ZHIXU from Shanghai, who will visit Poland and receive a laptop
The third winner – Bartłomiej Grynig, aged 11, from Ełk – was chosen by net users. The prize, namely a laptop, will be sent by post.
