Szczecin gets its very own holiday ode as residents join together to offer yuletide wishes to Poland in song a video.
Composed by Krzysztof Czeczot and arranged by Piotr Klimek, Szczecin’s Wishes to Poland premiered in early December, with an amateur choir that included Mayor Piotr Krzystek coming together to record the song as part of a multimedia Christmas card that appears on the city web portal.
Made possible by support from the city and artist agency HC Artistic Concept, the song also was pressed on a compact disc, which will be distributed in the 23 December editions of the Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper. Other media sponsors include Polskie Radio Szczecin, TVP Szczecin.
The song also may be downloaded from the city web site, as well as forwarded as a postcard accompanied by an illustration from artist Henryk Sawka. Simply click on the link marked Szczecin Polsce życzy which is placed in the upper left corner of the homepage and follow the instructions.
The city wishes to thank all those who participated in the recording, including singers Jola Szczepaniak, Beata Andrzejewska, Edyta Turowska, Iza Turowska and Olek Różanek; and musicians from the Chorzy na Odrę group; Rafał Krzanowski from Sambal group, the Baltic Neopolis Quartet and the Szczecin Gospel Choir.
