The Wassyl 360 expedition
Przepłyną ponad 45 000 mil morskich i odwiedzą 7 kontynentów. To przygoda życia, którą wkrótce rozpocznie grupa przyjaciół i zapalonych żeglarzy. Dziś, na Nabrzeżu Pasażerskim w Szczecinie odbyło się spotkanie z uczestnikami żeglarskiej wyprawy dookoła świata „Wassyl 360”.
A group of friends and passionate sailors is to set out on their life adventure that will entail covering a distance of 45,000 nautical miles and visiting 7 continents. A meeting with the participants of this round-the-world sailing expedition, called Wassyl 360, was held today in the Passenger Landing Pier in Szczecin.
One day a group of friends and passionate sailors decided to escape from civilisation and their daily routines, and to sail around the globe. This is how they came up with the idea of the Wassyl 360 project, i.e. a round-the-world sailing expedition with its main message being "7 continents and 4 oceans - the longest way around the globe".
The expedition will be led by Captain Artur "Arczi" Wassielewski, accompanied by the following crew members: Wojciech "BoloJr" Maleika, Marcin Mieczkowski, Patrycja Bełtowska, Magdalena Stryjska, Natalia Ptasińska and Alicja Szybińska.
A small 14-metre steel yacht called Wassyl will become home to the seven sailors for the next 26 months. The crew will face a dazzling challenge - in 414 days they will cover over 45,000 nautical miles, i.e. a distance twice as long as the circumference of the Earth! Their aim is to make their dreams come true.
“We will soon set out on a voyage that will most likely be our adventure of a lifetime. We are aware of the great challenge we are about to face and of the difficulties that will probably have to be overcome. However, dreams are there to be followed, rather than to be put aside,” said Captain Artur Wassielewski.
The final preparations for the expedition are now in progress. The voyage is planned to begin on 30 July 2015. This is when the sailors will leave Szczecin to go on their round-the-world voyage.
