Szczecin is the leader of The Tall Ships Races
Two Szczecin sailing boats “Fryderyk Chopin” and “Dar Szczecina” represent our city and the West Pomerania in this year’s Atlantic international regatta The Tall Ships Races. Our boats have just started the last phase of the competition and they are leading towards Dublin.
On Monday, August 13th.,both sailing boats departed from La Coruna. Last struggles with the finish in Dublin are ahead of them. Both tall ships can win the race. Now they are leading and it gives hope for the victory. On 23th-26th.August in Dublin’s port there is a big final of the event.
This year’s The Tall Ships Races are between ports in France, Portugal, Spain and Ireland. Boats have already struggles in St. Malo in France, then 2 stages between St. Malo and Lisbon and from Lisbon to Kadyks.
During each start our representatives took the best places and they won both on the sea and in regatta races. “Dar Szczecina” with its captain Jurek Szwoch has gained the first place twice in class C in both regatta stages. “Fryderyk Chopin” has taken first and the third place in class A.
