Szczecin tall ships have left Lisbon
Yesterday, the next phase of this year’s edition of The Tall Ships Races began. The whole fleet left Lisbon and started moving towards Cadis where they will have arrived by 28th.July.
After the first distance of the race from St. Malo to the capital of Portugal “Fryderyk Chopin” and “Dar Szczecin” earned the highest ranks in their classes. “Fryderyk Chopin” became the best in class A and she is ahead of “Dar Mlodziezy” and Russian tall ship “Mir”. “Dar Szczecina” is the leader in class C before Estonian “St Iv” and Spanish “Juan de Langara”.
Additionally, „Fryderyk Chopin” was awarded with a special Communication Award by Sail Training International. The crew of “Dar Szczecina” won the competition for the best crew in so called Crew Parade.
On Friday, the captains of all tall ships taking part in the regatta met onboard of „Dar Mlodziezy”. The President of Szczecin Piotr Krzystek invited everybody for the next year’s final which is going to take place in Szczecin.
44 tall ships were present on a starting list of the first phase from St. Malo to Lisbon.8 out of them are Polish and they include: „Dar Młodzieży”, „F. Chopin”, „Pogoria”, „Kapitan Borchardt”, „Zawisza Czarny” and yachts „Amarant”, „Dar Szczecina” and „Śmiały”.
