The high tide of sounds

The high tide of sounds

This year’s Days of the Sea is not only a race meeting of sailing ships and Oldtimer ships. Unique concerts and shows will be held on the Stage under the Stars.

On Friday 11 June, in the concert tent at the end of Łasztownia, there will be a concert by the Baltic Neopolis Orkiestra, in their enlarged formation of over 30 people. The concert will start at 7 pm with the programme “Songs for Orchestra” including instrumental, orchestral song arrangements – i.e. from Kabaret Starszych Panów (Landscape without You [Pejzaż bez Ciebie], Twilight [Zmierzch], For You I Am Myself [Dla Ciebie Jestem Sobą]), songs for the texts by Agnieszka Osiecka (for instance People Talking [Ludzkie Gadanie]) and by other renowned artists. In the second part we will hear the author’s arrangement of Miłosz Wośko’s “Baltic Suite” with visualisations by Jakub Wroński, a 2008 Grand Prix laureate of “the Young and the Film” festival in Koszalin in the animation category. The piece refers to the element of water, combining the genres of illustrative soundtrack, jazz harmony and folk stylisation.

In the evening we invite you to a concert by a group that needs no introduction. Its 18-year artistic career includes 10 studio albums (from which the last one has already gone double platinum), 5 concert records, 8 Fryderyk prizes and innumerable fans. It is a group from Szczecin - Hey - and its concert will begin at 10 pm.

On Saturday 12 June, Szczecin will become even greener. During the concert “Poland meets Ireland” there will be the concerts by key groups playing Celtic music: „Dervish” (Ireland), „North Cregg” (Ireland), „Sąsiedzi” (Poland), and „Dair” (Poland). They will be accompanied by the performers of the „Cowhie-Ryan Dancers” (Ireland) and „Reelandia” (Poland). The performances will be held between 5 pm and 9.30 pm.

On Sunday 13 June, the last day of the Days of the Sea will be brought to a close with a concert under the auspices of the Mayor of the City of Szczecin and the President of Polish Radio Szczecin – “Sail Szczecin – Let’s sail to Szczecin”. The concert will include performances by artists who have been playing periodically in Polish Radio Szczecin since December 2009 - Mirosław Kowalewski and Sławomir Klupś - of „Stare dzwony”, „Cztery refy”, „Flash Creep”, „Formacja”, „Sailor”, „Lemko – Tower”, „Malcziki”. Some of them represent national and ethnic minorities, which gives this concert a symbolical meaning.
