Sailing ships, fireworks festival, graffiti festival, artists boulevard, concerts – that is the shortest description of Days of Sea 2008. This is a several dozen of years tradition, a city visiting card, series of events, for which every year waits inhabitants of Szczecin, tourists arrive from Poland and from abroad. The place of event – always the same – exquisite scenery of Chrobry Embankments.

It is the representative part of the city, which is created by viewing areas, from where a wide panorama on right bank of the Oder river, port canals, islands: Grodzka, Bielawa and Lasztownia is spread. Beginning last year, the Lasztownia is also a terrain of many Sea’s Days events, it also superbly passed the exam during sailing ships rally The Tall Ship’s Races. The program of Days of the Sea is always rich, diverse, just to satisfy the tastes of all participants of sea’s people holiday. In several dozen of years of the event history, in Szczecin appeared such stars of the world format as Deep Purple or Pat Metheny as well as forefront of Polish performers, among them Kayah, Lady Pank or Bajm band.

To Szczecin in June This years of Seas’ Days, which will take place in second weekend of June (13-15) are promising exceptionally attractive. For many years the Days of the Sea are connected with Oldtimer’s Rally. Oldtimers, are the units which were built before 1950 with traditional sailings as well as motor ones. To Szczecin will come almost 30 of such units. Participation in the event already confirmed German “Greif”, Lithuanian “Brabander”, Dutch “Loth Lorien” and “Mercedes”. In the Days of the Sea program, whose organiser is Szczecin’s City Office, is a lot of events, which will take place first time such as International Festival of Fireworks – the companies from Canada, Germany, Italy and Poland will participate in it. On three stages you will find a lot of good music, theatre spectacles, competitions. And for example on the stage situated on Łasztowa Island for three days sea songs will be heard, among performers we will see Mohadick, Flash Creep, Smugglers, Neighbours, Old Smuggler. Each of three Days of the Sea will be ended with night star concert. On the main stage among others will be performing Budka Suflera as well as Brothers Band. A special stage will be intended for children only, and theatre spectacles, plays, competitions, games everything just for them. In front of the stage interactive activities for the youngest will be provided, e.g. interactive game stands, Circus school for children or Mini laboratory “Eureka” science and technique wonders. Besides main events, like always in the program you’ll find a lot of accompanying events such as Artists Boulevard, where painters, draughtsmen, sculptors, musicians and creators of handicraft arts will present their works and talents. Sea Parade - a colourful pageant of pupils, students, culture institutions, all of those who in colourful pageant with fantasy and sense of humour will show Szczecin connection with water and sea nearness, and the best group will be awarded. There will be also a lot of sports attractions – sports and skilful activities for public with seascape elements – yard climbing, to tie knots, throwing the mooring line, yacht mooring etc. The organisers did not forget also about football fans. It is the time of European Football Championship. From there, in special football taverns the monitors will be set where you’ll be able to watch played matches within the confines of the championship.
