Beautification projects in Szczecin are getting a boost again this year thanks to a PLN1 million grant program aimed at co-financing of improvements at city-owned buildings and apartment blocks. 

Called Green Backyards of Szczecin, the program was developed and is run by Zarząd Budynków i Lokali Komunalnych (the Buildings and Apartments Board). It provides seed money to cover up to 95 percent of the cost for the creation of improvements, including landscaping, enhancements to local parking areas and the construction of amenities like benches and play areas for children on the green spaces adjacent to city-owned property.
