Symphony Hall Project Wins Funding

Symphony Hall Project Wins Funding

The signing of an agreement by city and county officials to accept European Union co-financing for a new Philharmonic Hall means that construction will commence in the New Year.

Officials from the city and the West Pomeranian Voivodship signed the agreement at a ceremony at the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle in Szczecin, with commitments coming to the project via the Regional Operational Program of Western Pomerania (RPO).

Szczecin is the most import ant city in our region, which is reflected in the strategic nature of the projects contained in the RPO – said Władysław Husejko, Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship – A lot of these have strategic character and the building of a new Philharmonic Hall certainly fits that description.

The new hall will be built from a Spanish design and will be modern in character. The orchestra will move from its venue in the municipal hall when the project is complete. It joins a list of major investment projects in the city that includes the recently opened Pleciuga Puppet Theatre and ongoing work to create a Technical and Communication Museum, an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a multi-sport arena.
