Tieto Adding Staff for 4-G Effort

Finnish mobile technology provider Tieto is hiring up to 200 people for its research and development facility in Szczecin.
The company, which also operates a facility in Wroclaw, is Tieto is working on third- and fourth-generation mobile technologies and will launch an internal mobile network for the purposes of testing and researching. These include High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) and Long-term Evolution (LTE), which enable wireless network users to communicate faster and more efficiently.
Getting underway in 2010, the project involves the launch of a new internal network. Some 100 engineers will be engaged in the effort, but Tieto is actively seeking support staff for the newly-forming team.
Along with external management systems for network operators such as mobile phone companies, Tieto simultaneously is developing so-called embedded software for the base stations that are responsible for the operation of wireless networks owned by particular GSM operators.
Tieto is an international IT service company that provides services such as design, development and maintenance of IT systems. At present, it has branches in almost 30 countries and employs about 16,000 people. In 2008, Tieto’s net sales amounted to over €1.856 billion.
In Poland, Tieto employs 600 people. The main focus of activity is on IT services for the private sector, including mobile solutions. The customers of the Polish branch include Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks.
