The new airstrip
Starting from today, Szczecin has a modern airstrip for rescue helicopters. The site was established in front of the hospital on Unia Lubelska Street.
This is the most modern airstrip in the voivodeship. It will increase the chances of saving people who are being airlifted, as it can be used by all rescue helicopters 24/7, even in bad weather conditions. The old airstrip will be used by helicopters for landing, but only during the daytime. In the last few years rescue helicopters have landed at Jasne Błonie, from where the injured were transported to hospital by ambulance. The establishment of the new airstrip cost 3.6 million zlotys. During the celebratory opening of the airstrip President Piotr Krzystek also announced the establishment of a modern new parking area in the area of the hospital.
