A business incubator launched
Entrepreneurs in Szczecin have had 1200 square metres at their disposal since Friday in a new centre for business incubation - Technopark Pomerania
The investment was formally opened by the Mayor, Piotr Krzystek, and the President of the Szczecin Science and Technology Park (Szczeciński Park Naukowo-Technologiczny, SPNT), Grzegorz Fiuk.
”The incubation centre is located in a renovated building of a former school at ul. Niemierzyńska 17a. In the years to come we will implement new investments here. This place will attract young people,” said Mayor Piotr Krzystek during the inauguration of Technopark Pomerania. “We want to base the economic development of the city on new technologies.”
Companies have almost 1200 sq. m at their disposal, including 30 top-quality office spaces, as well as conference, training and computer rooms equipped with the necessary infrastructure. Currently there are 14 companies located there.
The incubator is a place where both new and experienced companies with a stable situation can operate. Part of area will be made available to young entrepreneurs from the IT and advanced technologies industry on favourable conditions.
The next investments at ul. Niemierzyńska are yet to come. Next week a grant agreement will be concluded for the construction of further buildings within the project “The construction and equipment for the 1st stage of the Pomerania Technopark” co-financed from EU funds. Within this project the area of 11 000 sq. m will be developed. “We often refer to American themes,” said Grzegorz Fiuk, President of SPNT. “Niebuszewo has its Manhattan. Here will be a Silicone Valley.“
The construction of the incubation centre Pomerania Technopark was a priority task of SPNT. During the ceremony, awards for the global startup challenge were presented.
These are the latest office spaces that Szczecin has gained this year. The Oxygen building was completed in summer. Soon the construction of office blocks near Brama Portowa (Harbour Gate) and on Łasztownia Island will be commenced.
