The construction of the North Road has started. The road is to connect Niebuszewo with Szosa Polska

The Mayor of Szczecin, Piotr Krzystek, has formally handed over the construction site to the contractor, Eurovia.

The North Road is one of the strategic investments that in the future will allow this part of the city be connected to the exit road to Police, and later to the Szczecin West Ring Road and the Police – Święte crossing.

The investment will improve road safety and traffic fluidity in the direction of Police. The water and sewage economy will be normalised due to the replacement of underground infrastructure.

The construction works on the North Road have been divided into three stages.

The first stage is currently starting – the rebuilding of ul. Warcisława. This stage has been broken into two tasks:
I a: the rebuilding of ul. Warcisława (from the crossroads with ul. Przyjaciół Żołnierza to ul. Rostocka) and of ul. Wkrzańska (from ul. Rostocka to ul. Bociania);
I b: the rebuilding of ul. Warcisława (from ul. Przyjaciół Żołnierza to ul. Orzeszkowej);

The remaining stages are:
II: the rebuilding of ul. Wkrzańska (from ul. Bociania to ul. Łączna)
III: the rebuilding of ul. Wkrzańska (from ul. Łączna to ul. Zagórskiego), and of ul. Zagórskiego.

First, the contractor will rebuild ul. Warcisława in the section from ul. Przyjaciół Żołnierza to ul. Rostocka, and ul. Wkrzańska in the section from ul. Rostocka to ul. Bociania, and the ul. Warcisława and ul. Rostocka crossroads. Traffic lights will be installed at this junction. A total of 1.5 km of road is going to be constructed, featuring two lanes in each direction, pavements on both sides, and an asphalt bicycle path. Street lighting, revetments, and acoustic screens will be built. Underground infrastructure will also be installed, i.e. rain drainage, sewerage, and water-supply systems. The existing gas, power, optical fibre, and telecommunications systems will also undergo major refurbishments.

The first stage will cost PLN 22 million.

In prospect - the North Road will also feature trams – a green zone with a tram line will be created.
