Another promenade to grow prettier

The city has invited tenders to rebuild another of Szczecin’s promenades. This time it is looking for a contractor to renovate Nabrzeże Piastowskie (Piastowskie Wharf). The deadline for tenders is 8 September of this year.
The renovation of the wharf is a part of the “Promenade with a view of the Oder – the rebuilding of Szczecin’s promenades” project. It will feature the complete rebuilding of the three promenades: Elbląski, Piastowski, and Gdyński until 2012.
Bulwar Piastowski (Piastowski Promenade) is planned to undergo a comprehensive land redevelopment. A section of 909.5 metres is being rebuilt from the junction with the Nadodrzański Promenade to Trasa Zamkowa (Castle Road). During the rebuilding works, the promenade will be fitted with a new pavement. There will be, among other things: a new pavement, benches, dustbins, elements for the mooring of ships - bollards, capstans, and lifebuoys. Utilities: water and electricity, will be connected. The renovation of the wharf will also feature restoration work on the sandstone facade. After rebuilding, Bulwar Piastowski will be closed to motor traffic.

The contractor, Energopol, has already taken over the construction site and is preparing to carry out the renovation. In the near future the city will invite tenders to rebuild Bulwar Gdyński (The Gdynia Promenade).
The cost of the completion of the whole “Promenade with a view of the Oder - the rebuilding of Szczecin’s promenades” project - will be over PLN 44 million, 22 million of which comes from funding from the European Regional Development Fund received by the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
