Almost PLN 37 million for new buses

Today, in the Marshal’s Office, contracts for the purchase of a bus fleet have been concluded. They will provide the Szczecin bus companies with a total amount of PLN 37 million. The money will be allocated to the purchase of other new buses.

The financing has been granted within the framework of the Regional Operational Programme of the Westpomeranian Voivodeship for the years 2007-2013. A relevant contract has been entered into today between Marshal Władysław Husejko, and the directors of bus companies: Włodzimierz Sołtysiak (SPA “Dąbie”) and Krzysztof Putiatycki (SPA “Klonowica”). Under the contract, each company is going to obtain around PLN 18 million.

“For this money, the companies will buy about 30 modern buses”, said Beniamin Brochulski, Deputy Mayor of the city, who was present during the signing of the contract. “We are replacing the bus fleet through sensible and consistent activities, significantly raising the comfort and safety of passengers.”

Already in September each of the bus companies is to announce a tender for the provision of ca. 14 modern city buses. The new vehicles will arrive in Szczecin in 2011.

As early as next month, 20 modern, brand-new “Solaris” buses will come to Szczecin. The SPA Dąbie company will acquire ten articulated Solaris Urbino 18 (18 metres long) machines, andthe SPA Klonowica, eight Solaris Urbino 18’s and two Solaris Urbino 10 buses.
