Swimming pool with counter-current

The first Polish training swimming pool with a counter-current will be installed in Szczecin.
The device will be one of the elements of the equipment in the Olympic Swimming Pool which is being constructed at the moment. The object, measuring 570 cm x 250 cm, will be placed in one of the premises of the newly built facility. Installing a training pool with a counter-current should create the optimal conditions for the improvement of results achieved by athletes, and help eliminate their errors. The pool functions in a manner similar to wild rivers that can be found in aqua-parks. The difference is that the swimmer moves against the current, while the coach can regulate the intensity of the current. Owing to the transparent parts of the pool (bottom and sides) the coach can also observe the training swimmer. This allows the elimination of errors and changes to the swimmers’ habits.
So far, Polish athletes who wanted to train with this device have had to go abroad, e.g. to Germany, where such objects are located, among others, in Dresden and Hamburg. Installing such a pool in Szczecin will increase the attractiveness of the local facility, which in turn should enable the creation of a modern training centre, not only for swimmers from Szczecin.
