Szczecin’s Secondary School No. 13 the best in Poland for the seventh time

The awards ceremony for honoured schools was held in the Leon Koźmiński Main Hall in Warsaw. The Diploma for the Best Secondary School in Poland was received by Cezary Urban, Head of the School, currently a member of the Polish Parliament.
This victory is first of all the success of the students, who are very industrious young people, and their parents. I want to thank the parents for the support and the atmosphere they create around the school. I want to thank the Local Government authorities, especially Mayor Piotr Krzystek for his presence with us, and the support he is giving to our school at every step  – said the Head of the School upon receiving the award. Other participants in the ceremony included a delegation of students and teachers from the “Thirteen” – Poland’s best secondary school. The city was represented by Vice-Mayor Krzysztof Nowak.

Please accept my warmest congratulations on behalf of the Mayor. Here in Szczecin, we all are very happy and proud that the Thirteenth won for the 7th time. We focus on education and therefore, this year we are going to allot PLN 100 million to educational investments. Thanks to this, the Secondary School No. 13, as well as other schools in Szczecin, will have professional facilities to conduct classes – said Krzysztof Nowak, Vice-Mayor of Szczecin.

The 2010 edition of the Polish Secondary School Ranking prepared by the educational monthly “Perspektywy” and the newspaper „Rzeczpospolita” featured a competition among the 428 best secondary schools in Poland. The ranking’s basic criterion is the students’ participation in contest finals on school and vocational subjects.
The results are approved by the Ranking Jury, comprising the heads of the Main Committees for Contests on School Subjects.
